STERLING, Ill. — Halo Branded Solutions on Wednesday recalled five models of children’s projector flashlights due to ingestion and choking hazards posed by the products’ button cell batteries.
The recall applies to 82,500 key chains that feature Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Avengers or ESPN projectors on the opposite end.
The firm has received two reports of children accessing the button cell batteries from the flashlight, and in one case, a child required surgery to remove a swallowed battery, Halo confirmed.
The recalled flashlights were distributed by Culver City, California-based Starlight Children’s Foundation and were part of a Disney-branded care package that also included a tote bag, silicone wristband, playing cards, ink pen, journal, wall decals and a set of postcards. Specifically, Starlight distributed care packages to hospitals and health care facilities between February 2021 and June 2021.
According to the recall notice, the affected projector flashlights are equipped with four button cell batteries with model number LR41 inside the flashlight.
Consumers are advised to take the flashlights away from children immediately, stop using them and contact Halo for a full refund and a prepaid shipping label to return the projector flashlight. Upon return, Halo will send the consumer a $5 gift card redeemable at a major national retailer.
