FLORENCE, Ky. — A toddler’s Halloween costume was so good, it even got the royal seal of approval from the queen herself.
Jalayne Sutherland is 2 years old and lives with her mother Katelyn in Florence, Kentucky. Her mother posted photos of the little girl to Facebook dressed up as Queen Elizabeth II for Halloween, complete with hat, pearls, and the family’s two corgi dogs.
After posting the photos to social media, Sutherland told WLWT her friends encouraged her to send the photos to Buckingham Palace, which she did, never expecting to receive a response.
On Dec. 27, a letter complete with a royal stamp arrived at the family’s home from Windsor Castle, CNN reported. The letter read, “Her Majesty thought it kind of you to write to her, and The Queen was pleased to see the photograph of your daughter, Jalayne, in her splendid outfit.” The letter was signed by a female personal assistant to a court, CNN reported.
The Sutherlands told CNN they plan to frame the letter and put it on display in the living room, and don’t yet know what Jalayne’s next Halloween costume will be.
