Little League player Easton Oliverson asks for prayers during recovery from severe head injury

SALT LAKE CITY — Easton Oliverson, the injured baseball player who spent more than two weeks in a Pennsylvania hospital after suffering a severe head injury, returned home to Utah on Tuesday and asked the public to keep him and his recovery journey in their prayers.

Oliverson, 12, underwent emergency surgery after falling from the top bunk of a bed in a dormitory that housed players for the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

According to KSTU-TV, a “special medical plane” carrying Oliverson landed at Salt Lake City International Airport just before 3:30 p.m. An ambulance then transported the pitcher and outfielder to Primary Children’s Hospital where he will continue his recovery.

Earlier in the day, Oliverson spoke to his supporters in a video posted across several social media platforms.

“Hi, everyone! This is Easton. Thank you for all of your prayers. Please keep praying for me as I continue to get better. I know the prayers and blessings have worked, and that Heavenly Father is blessing me,” he said.

Jace Oliverson, Easton’s father, told KSTU that his son’s remarkable recovery since the Aug. 15 fall has surprised even the doctors who have been treating him.

“It was a scary road. There was a time period where we didn’t think he was going to be around, and after being able to witness so many miracles, like hour after hour, and all the blessings, there’s no other way to describe it other than divine intervention,” Jace Oliverson said.

It was not immediately clear how long the younger Oliverson will remain hospitalized in Salt Lake City before returning to his St. George-area home.
