Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, was released from the Harris County jail on Tuesday, according to court records.

Clark was arrested on Dec. 1 and was charged with murder in the Nov. 1 shooting. Cameron Joshua, 22, was charged with felony possession of a weapon.

According to The Associated Press, Clark’s attorney, Letitia Quinones, has said that her client has a “valid and meritorious claim for self-defense.”

Clark’s family had failed to get his bail lowered to $300,000, arguing in court last month that they could not afford to pay an amount that was higher, the AP reported.

In a statement issued Thursday afternoon, Quinones said that a “concerned citizen and family friend who believes in Patrick’s innocence posted the bond on his behalf.”

“We believe Patrick is innocent and at the appropriate time, the evidence will reveal that to be the case,” Quinones said.

Born Kirshnik Khari Ball, Takeoff was shot in the head and back around 2:30 a.m. CDT on Nov. 1 outside 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston. Sgt. Michael Burrow said the rapper was “an innocent bystander” caught up in violence after an argument broke out following a private party.

Houston police have said the gunfire followed a disagreement over a lucrative game of dice, but added that Takeoff was not involved.

Chief Troy Finner said that Takeoff was “definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

“(We have) no evidence whatsoever to say anything different,” he said in early December.

Takeoff was one of three members of Migos alongside Offset (Quavopis Marshall) and Quavo (Kiari Cephus) who grew up in the same household in Lawrenceville, Georgia, located in Gwinnett County east of Atlanta, WSB-TV reported. Quavo was the rapper’s uncle and Offset was his cousin. Quavo was with his nephew at the time of the shooting, and photos showed him kneeling over Takeoff after he was shot, according to the television station.
