WALDORF, Md. — A Maryland man is accused of killing his wife after requesting a welfare check at his home, authorities said.
According to a news release from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, Travis Edward Paschal Wood, 33 of Waldorf, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and a firearms charge.
Shawnda Wood, 32, of Waldorf, was found dead by police after the welfare check was requested, The Washington Post reported.

Through an initial investigation, detectives determined that Travis Wood was a suspect in his wife’s death, according to WUSA-TV.
According to the sheriff’s office, Wood is being held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center.
