MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Zoo can now start selling alcohol during regular business hours.
The House Finance Committee passed Tennessee state Sen. Brian Kelsey’s bill that allows the zoo to serve alcohol. The bill still has to go before the state House.
Leaders hope the alcohol beverage sales will help the zoo overcome financial strain caused by the coronavirus shutdown.
"Hopefully, the revenue from these sales will help our wonderful zoo weather the COVID-19 shutdown a little easier," Kelsey said on social media.
