GAINESVILLE, Texas — A Texas father is behind bars after authorities found his 3-month-old daughter dead in a submerged vehicle, multiple news outlets are reporting.
According to KTRK-TV, Gainesville police responded to the Red River shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday to find Jeremy Nathaniel Brown, 30, beside a submerged vehicle. Crews pulled the vehicle out of the water and discovered his infant daughter, Lyrik Aliyana, dead in her car seat, the news outlet reported.
The news came hours after an Amber Alert was issued for the girl and Brown. The child's mother told police that Brown had assaulted her and abducted the baby, KXII-TV reported.

Lyrik was last seen on 6/8/2020 at approximately 9:00p.m. She may be in the company of an adult male relative, Jeremy Brown. A felony warrant is on file for Jeremy. They may be traveling in a gray 2011 Volkswagen Jetta with #Texas temporary license plates 55432B6. pic.twitter.com/vuovo5N092
Police arrested Brown on a family assault charge, according to Cooke County jail records. The investigation is ongoing.
