The bovine was seen trotting down the freeway near Los Angeles on Wednesday, and it took animal control on quite an adventure.

The steer started on the 210 Freeway in the northern San Fernando Valley, KNBC reported.

Animal control officers, along with the California Highway Patrol, followed behind the cow as they encouraged it to leave the highway down an exit ramp and onto local streets, KTTV reported.

But the cow wasn’t going to be taken down quickly.

After being pushed down the exit ramp, under a bridge and into a parking lot, the cow escaped after several minutes, despite officers having a lasso at hand, KTTV reported.

A couple of times, the cow stopped to catch its reflection in a store window, KCBS reported.

It was able to climb a flight of stairs at a strip mall to get out of its captor’s reach, KNBC reported.

The day on the town came to an end when it wandered to a farm where it was eventually caught, but not before trying to get out again, even butting a fence to get to other animals on the property, KCBS reported.
