According to the Shore Daily News, the V-22 Osprey aircraft crashed north of the Chincoteague Causeway at 7:32 p.m. EDT. Two people were rescued, but one person was reported missing.
Update 11:46 p.m. EDT March 30: Military officials said one person was believed to be dead after the plane crashed near Chincoteague in Accomack County, WAVY-TV reported.
Lt. Cmdr. Rob Myers, a public affairs officer with Naval Air Force Atlantic, said the plane was doing a routine exercise when it went down. Three people were on board; two were rescued and one is considered dead, Myers told the television station.
Two crew members were found injured on the top of the wreckage, according to WAVY.

Update 10:53 p.m. EDT March 30: U.S. Rep. Elaine Luria said in a statement that she was continuing to monitor the crash.
“I’m keeping our naval aviators, their families, and our first responders in my thoughts and prayers tonight as rescue and recovery efforts continue,” Luria said.
A spokesperson for Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin said his office is monitoring the situation.
“The governor is monitoring the situation,” the spokesperson told WRIC-TV. “The governor and the First Lady are keeping the aviators, their families, and the first responders in their thoughts and prayers.”
Update 10:09 p.m. EDT March 30: As of 10 p.m. EDT, the third person had not been located, and emergency responders are now treating the situation as a recovery mission, the Shore Daily News reported. The crash occurred near NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility on the Eastern Shore, The Virginian-Pilot reported.

Two people were recovered from the aircraft, but a third person reportedly is unaccounted for, according to the Daily News. They were removed from the wrecked aircraft and transported by boat to a hospital in Salisbury, Maryland, the newspaper reported.
According to a U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson, the crash scene is located off the Wildcat Marsh, WVEC-TV reported.
Divers from Ocean City, Maryland, were en route to search for the third person, the newspaper reported. The Coast Gaurd is also sending a 47-foot lifeboat and helicopter to assist with search efforts, the television station reported.
