PAPILLION, Neb. — A Nebraska gymnastics coach is behind bars after he was arrested on child sexual assault charges, authorities said.
According to KETV and WOWT, 30-year-old Thomas Alexander, a coach at Metro Stars Gymnastics in Papillion, was booked Wednesday in the Sarpy County Jail on two charges of third-degree sexual assault of a child. He is scheduled to make a court appearance Thursday, the news outlets reported.
Court documents allege that Alexander, who worked at Metro Stars for four years and was fired after his arrest, had sexual contact with a child aged 14 or under who had been taking lessons at the gym, according to KETV. The incidents occurred between Jan. 1 and Feb. 1, the documents said.
Metro Stars emailed a message to parents about the allegations.
“As an organization that champions the safe and healthy growth and development of children, we couldn’t have harder news to report,” the email read, according to KETV. “At this time, we know nothing beyond the information available publicly.”
