DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. — A fire broke out inside a North Carolina home on Monday, killing four people, authorities said.
According to WXII and WGHP, the incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Monday at a house on Junction Road in Davie County. The Cooleemee Volunteer Fire Department and other agencies responded within minutes to the reported blaze, which was under control in less than an hour, the news outlets reported.
Davie County Sheriff JD Hartman said crews discovered four people – a man, a woman and two young children – dead inside the home, according to WGHP. The youngest victim appeared to be about 8 months old, while the other child was about 4, Hartman said.
Authorities have not determined what caused the fire or the victims’ cause of death, the news outlets reported. The investigation is ongoing.
