MENLO PARK, Calif. — A man who was trimming trees in Menlo Park, California, on Tuesday died after falling into a wood chipper, officials say.
The Menlo Police Department confirmed in a news release Tuesday that a man has died after officers received reports that he fell into a wood chipper.
It happened just before 1 p.m. Once officers arrived on the scene, they located the man with injuries, police say according to The Associated Press.
The man was declared dead at the scene, according to the AP.
Menlo Park Fire Protection District and the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene, according to MPD.
MPD said that the name of the worker who died has not been released. The coroner’s office is working to identify him and then will be notifying his next of kin.
Cal/OSHA’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health is conducting an investigation into his death, according to MPD.
No further information has been released.
