SYLVANIA, Ohio — An Ohio man is accused in the death of his 5-month-old daughter, authorities said.
Anthony M. Genna, 20, of Sylvania, was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated murder of a victim under 13, according to Lucas County online booking records.
According to the Sylvania Police Department, officers responded to a home at about 9:50 a.m. EDT after receiving a report about a baby having difficulty breathing, The Toledo Blade reported. The child, Aria Genna, was taken to an area hospital, where she died at 4 p.m. EDT on Thursday, according to the Lucas County coroner’s office.
According to an autopsy report, the child’s cause of death was blunt force head trauma, WTOL-TV reported.
Police said Genna lived at the home with the child, her mother and grandmother, but he and the baby were the only ones at home at the time of the 911 call, according to the television station.
After an investigation, Genna was taken into custody without incident, WTOL reported.
He remains in custody at the Lucas County Corrections Center, online records show.
