BROOKVILLE, Ohio — An Ohio man has been sentenced to at least 19 years in prison for murdering his mother and his involvement in other cases.
According to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office per WHIO, Taylor Wesley Walter, 30, was sentenced on Thursday to at least 19 years in prison for murdering his mother.
On February 12, 2020, Taylor’s aunt had been unable to contact his mother, Donna L. Walter, 60, and became increasingly worried. According to MCPO per WHIO, she called a neighbor to check on Donna and they found her bloody and unconscious.
The Perry Township Police and Brookville medics were called to the house where they pronounced Donna dead. According to MCPO per WHIO, an autopsy was performed and found that Donna was stabbed about 30 times with a kitchen knife.
According to WHIO, during the investigation, officials learned that Taylor had committed the murder.
At the beginning of September, a jury convicted Taylor of two counts of murder, one count of felonious assault with a deadly weapon and one count of felonious assault causing serious physical harm, according to WHIO.
MCPO said that at the time of the murder, Taylor was under indictment for aggravated possession of drugs from an incident the year before on September 3, 2019, according to WHIO. He was also indicted on June 15, 2020 for burglary and having weapons while under disability for an incident that occurred eleven days before. Taylor pleaded no contest to both of those cases.
According to WHIO, Taylor was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for his mother, Donna’s murder, plus four years for the burglary counts, which MCPO said would be served consecutively. Taylor was sentenced to concurrent sentences for his aggravated possession of drugs and having weapons while under disability counts.
MCSO said per WHIO that Taylor will not be eligible for consideration of parole until he has served at least 19 years in prison.
