Singer Emani Johnson, better known as Emani 22, has died at age 22, her manager announced Thursday.
According to People magazine, the R&B artist died Monday after she was hurt in a “tragic accident.”
“It is with heavy hearts that the family of Emani has confirmed her passing,” her manager said in a statement to the magazine, adding that Johnson “fought courageously” as her medical team “went above and beyond” to try to save her.
No further details about Johnson’s cause of death were immediately available.
In a statement, producer J Maine called the “Feelings” singer “one of a kind” and said he enjoyed working with her on her 2020 album, “The Color Red,” according to E! News.
Rapper Bhad Bhabie also took to Instagram to share a tribute to Johnson.
“I used to spend almost every day with you,” she captioned a photo of the pair. “You taught me so many things. You are my inspiration for many things (hair, nails, style, etc.) my big sister. I’m gonna miss you so much.”
