Recall alert: Choking hazard prompts Lovevery to recall nearly 170,000 steel drinking cups

BOISE, Idaho — Lovevery Inc. on Thursday recalled about 169,000 stainless-steel drinking cups included in the retailer’s Inspector Play Kits for children aged seven to eight months.

Per the recall, the cup’s handle can detach, posing a choking hazard to small children. In turn, only cups with handles are being recalled.

The Boise, Idaho-based company has fielded 70 reports of detached handles, including two incidents where a child had the cup handle in their mouth. No choking injuries have been reported, Lovevery stated.

The Inspector Play Kit were sold online at www.Lovevery.com from July 2018 through July 2021 for about $80 each.

Consumers are advised to immediately take the recalled drinking cups away from children and to contact Lovevery for a free replacement cup. The company is contacting all known purchasers directly.
