Officials with Toyota have announced a massive recall affecting almost 700,000 cars, SUVs and trucks in the U.S.
The alert was issued because the fuel pump can malfunction and cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash, The Associated Press reported.
Vehicles affected by the recall involve some 2018 and 2019 model years of the following Lexus vehicles:
- LS 500
- RC 350
- RC 300
- GS 350
- IS 300
- ES 350
- LX 570
- GX 460
- RX350
The recall also affects some 2018 and 2019 Toyota branded vehicles including the following models:
- 4Runner
- Camry
- Highlander
- Land Cruiser
- Sequoia
- Sienna
- Tacoma
- Tundra
Two additional 2019 models, Avalon and Corolla, are included in the recall, the AP reported.
Owners of the vehicles subjected to the recall will be notified by mail in mid-March. The company is still coming up with its repair plan.
