So much for good deeds.
On Tuesday actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was filmed repairing what he thought was a pothole on the street in front of his Brentwood, California, home, but while he was thanked by neighbors for attending to the issue in the street, Los Angeles city officials said what he filled in was not a pothole.
What Schwarzenegger filled was a service ditch purposely cut into the street to be used for permitted work by Southern California Gas Co., the Los Angeles Department of Public Works said.
SoCalGas crews completed an upgrade on a pipeline in January, a Los Angeles Times story explained, and “applied temporary paving over the excavation,” the utility company said in a statement.
Today, after the whole neighborhood has been upset about this giant pothole that’s been screwing up cars and bicycles for weeks, I went out with my team and fixed it. I always say, let’s not complain, let’s do something about it. Here you go. pic.twitter.com/aslhkUShvT

The temporary paving is meant to be replaced and resurfaced to repair the road, but that work has been delayed because of the unprecedented amount of rain the area has received in the past few months.
According to the Times, Los Angeles has received 19,642 pothole repair service requests since December,.
The city anticipates completing all pothole repair work by the end of April, Bureau of Street Services General Manager Keith Mozee said.
