COLUMBIA, S.C — A Rock Hill woman who won $15 playing the South Carolina Education Lottery used the winnings to buy another ticket that won her $250,000, lottery officials said Tuesday.
“I started crying,” the woman, whose name was not released, told lottery officials.
She said she got off work and stopped at Gee Gees Food Store on Saluda Street in Rock Hill where she bought a $10 In the Green scratch-off ticket and won the top prize.
She said she slept soundly that night with the $250,000 winning ticket tucked underneath her mattress.
One top prize of $250,000 remains in the $10 In the Green game with odds of 1 in 780,000.
Gee Gees got a commission of $2,500.
