LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A toddler found a gun and fired it in an Indiana apartment last week, accidentally shooting a man in the head and injuring a woman, authorities said.
According to the Lafayette Journal & Courier, the incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Friday in Lafayette. Police believe that the handgun was on a bed when the child, a 2-year-old girl, grabbed it and fired.
Justin Davis, 20, suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and a woman, whose name was not released, was struck in the thigh, the newspaper reported.
The man's grandmother, Angelia Johnson, told the Journal & Courier that family members do not expect Davis to survive.
Doctors treated the woman's injury, which wasn't considered life-threatening, authorities said.
