Update 2:35 p.m. EST Feb. 11:
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced on Twitter it had captured Johnny Shane Brown in Wilmington, North Carolina, the same town where two other escaped inmates were found dead earlier this week.
Investigators found Brown in Wilmington as well as the white pickup truck they had been looking for, but a West Virginia license plate had replaced the Tennessee one, WECT reported.
Monday afternoon, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office announced on Twitter that two men who escaped from the Sullivan County jail were found dead but that the search continues for a third.
The U.S. marshals initially announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the capture of Tobias Wayne Carr, Johnny Shane Brown and Timothy Allen Sarver. Carr was indicted by a grand jury for his wife’s stabbing death. Brown was sentenced to 11 years in jail for distribution of methamphetamine. Sarver was being held on auto theft, drugs and weapons charges.
On Twitter Monday, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office said they were notified that Tobias Carr and Timothy Sarver died in Wilmington, North Carolina, after both were involved in a robbery in a different part of the state.
In their initial Facebook post, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s office announced that the three men had escaped from the jail on the morning of Feb. 4. The post also said the reward for finding the suspects was increased to $7,500.
On Sunday, there was a potential sighting of the truck the three suspects are believed to be driving: a white 2001 Chevrolet Silverado with Tennessee registration 830GSD, WDBJ reported. Sarver has ties to the Pulaski, Virginia, area, which is where they were believed to have been, WDBJ reported.
The three were able to escape through the ceiling of their jail cell by accessing the air vent system and then climbing through the vent onto the roof of the jail, WYCB reported.
