Vice President Kamala Harris tests positive for COVID-19

Vice President Kamala Harris has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Associated Press reported that Harris has not experienced any symptoms and has not been in close contact with President Joe Biden or his wife due to their recent travel schedules.

Harris tested positive on both a rapid test and a PCR test, the AP reported.

She will be following guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, along with advice from her doctors and will isolate herself while working from the vice president’s residence. She will not return to the White House when she tests negative.

Harris is vaccinated against the coronavirus and had her first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in the weeks before she was sworn in. The second dose was administered days after Inauguration Day in 2021. She got a booster shot in late October and received a second booster on April 1.

While people who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus can still test positive, the vaccinations and booster regimen can prevent serious illness and death, the AP reported.

Harris’ husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff tested positive for COVID-19 on March 15, CNN reported. He said he had mild symptoms when his positive test was announced.
