NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A homeowner was shot on his porch just before 5 a.m. after going outside to confront people who appeared to be burglarizing cars, and the violent exchange was caught on camera.

Detectives with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department released video that appears to show the suspects in a sedan, pulling on door handles.

In a news release, police said that the suspects “appeared to shoot the victim without provocation and had their firearms in their hands while checking vehicles.”

The 55-year-old homeowner was hit in his neck and shoulder area and taken to the hospital, WSMV reported. The victim was reported to be in critical, but stable, condition by WZTV.
