LOVELAND, Colo. — A Walmart employee in Colorado died when he was run over in the store’s parking lot while returning carts to the store, authorities said.
In a news release, officials with the Loveland Police Department said they received a call about a car-versus-pedestrian accident in a Walmart parking lot on Thursday afternoon just after 1 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 27-year-old man trapped under a 2016 Chevrolet sedan. The driver of the car was identified as an 83-year-old woman.
Police said rescue efforts for the man were unsuccessful, according to KUSA. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was identified as a Walmart employee who was returning shopping carts to the store, according to the news outlet.
Police say the driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with the investigation. They say there were no signs of impairment and speed is believed to not have been a factor in the crash.
The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s name at a later date, according to police.
