The Washington Department of Corrections will begin producing protective hospital gowns in response to a nationwide shortage, according to a Saturday press release.
Production is expected to start in the next few days at its textiles shop in a corrections center in Connell. Production will then expand to three other sites.
Once up and running, the DOC will produce 5,000-6,000 gowns per day.
“I’m proud our team can contribute to the COVID-19 response in such a meaningful way,” said Corrections Secretary Stephen Sinclair.
