CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A West Virginia man has been sentenced to hundreds of years in prison after he was convicted of filming the sexual abuse of a baby.

According to The Associated Press and the Charleston Gazette-Mail, Richard Smith II, 41, of Mason County, received a prison sentence of 205 to 775 years after he was found guilty of 20 counts of sex crimes, including sexual abuse, sexual assault and sexual abuse by a guardian.

Prosecutors said Smith and 46-year-old Roseanna Thompson, his former fiancee, filmed the abuse of Thompson’s infant granddaughter in 2015. Multiple videos showed the pair molesting and harming the girl, the Gazette-Mail reported.

Thompson, who faces the same sex crime charges as Smith, will go to trial next month, according to the newspaper.
