A Mississippi woman lost her 2-year-old daughter in last week’s tornadoes only hours before she would give birth to a son.
Dominique Green left her daughter, Aubrey, with her parents as she went to the hospital to give birth to her son, according to a story from CNN.
On Friday evening, Green’s mother was watching Aubrey and three other grandchildren when a massive tornado hit Silver City and destroyed the mobile home she lived in.
Aubrey was killed as the tornado hit, one of 25 killed in Mississippi during the storms. Another child in the home, Green’s 8-year-old nephew, suffered a traumatic brain injury.
Green’s aunt, JoAnn Winston, who lives next door to her mother said they had no idea the tornado was in their neighborhood.
“I heard something like a train … my older son was saying ‘get down on the floor get down on the floor!’” Winston told CNN
When she went to check on her sister’s mobile home she said there was nothing there.
“I didn’t see no house no nothing and I looked around and I seen the baby laying a little bit far from her grandmother … the ambulance had her (the baby) and were doing CPR on her,” she said.
A GoFundMe account has been set up for the family.
