ATLANTA — A woman and her daughter were in for an unpleasant surprise when a maintenance man fell through her ceiling.
Aiyannah Peal said she heard a lot of crashing and she thought it was noise coming from outside, but it wasn’t.
“I look to my left and I actually see he’s on the floor and I actually see all the dirt,” Peal said.

She said he was alert and breathing after the fall, and he asked her to get his manager.
Once the manager got there, Peal grabbed her phone and started recording. She said she wanted the video as proof to her apartment complex and her friends on Twitter.
The video shows the man lying still on the ground with debris from the ceiling around him.

Peal said the video blew up. After more than 2 million views, people began to share it and laugh at it, but Peal didn’t think it was funny.
“I really didn’t think it was funny... my daughter, she eats in that area, I work in that area. A couple hours, an hour later, it could have been one of us,” Peal said.
She said she has complained about her ceiling in the past and put in a maintenance request back in 2021 when her daughter’s ceiling started crumbling.
“She puts stuff in her mouth and she’s always into stuff...It could’ve fell on her,” Peal said.
Channel 2′s Justin Carter reached out to the apartment management, but they declined to comment.
“Nobody got hurt, but what if they did. It could’ve been way worse than it actually was,” Peal said.
