Atlanta United player tests positive for COVID-19

ATLANTA — Atlanta United announced that one of their players have tested positive for COVID-19. The player was not named but a statement said he is a member of the First Team.

The team said they discovered the positive diagnosis after mandatory club testing.

The team’s website said the player is asymptomatic and is being isolated, according to United website. No other players or staff have tested positive.

The team has been practicing at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground in Marietta.

Players will be tested again on Friday before they resume training for the upcoming MLS season.

The club resumed individual player workouts on May 6 and then transitioned to full team workouts.

The season is expected to resume on July 8 with a 26 team tournament.
