ATHENS, Ga. — Injured former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck appears to have put his name into college football’s Transfer Portal.

Beck, who was injured during the SEC Championship game against Texas, originally announced on Dec. 28 he was entering the NFL Draft.

Now there are reports Beck is backing out of the draft.

The 23-year-old from Jacksonville technically has another season of college football eligibility left in 2025 as a redshirt senior. According to NCAA rules, he can still withdraw his name from the portal if he still wants to enter the draft this year. He has until Jan. 24th to make up his mind.

Reports say that Beck intends to follow through on transferring and according to ESPN College Football insider Pete Thamel, the likely destination for Beck may be the University of Miami.

Beck had surgery on his injured right elbow just before Christmas and according to UGA officials, would not be able to throw until sometime in March at the absolute earliest. That timetable would however put him in line to be ready to play during the 2025 college football season.

TRENDING STORIES:

Beck had a 24-3 record as the starting QB at the Georgia. During his four years in Athens, he threw for almost 8,000 yards and 58 touchdowns. He was a second-team All-SEC performer in 2023 and the backup QB to Stetson Bennett for the 2022 team that won the National Championship.

Beck was mentioned as a possible first-round draft pick after his successful 2023 season, but after struggling for parts of the 2024 season, his draft stock was not quite as high.
