ATLANTA — For the first time since 1982, the Georgia Bulldogs have completed a perfect regular season.

No. 1 Georgia defeated Georgia Tech, 45-0, at Bobby Dodd Stadium on Saturday to finish 12-0. The Yellow Jackets meanwhile finished their season 3-9 in head coach Geoff Collins’ third year.

Georgia ended its first drive of the game with a field goal, but it was nothing but touchdowns from there on out. Stetson Bennett finished the game on 14/20 passing attempts for 255 yards and four touchdowns.

Brock Bowers caught two of Bennett’s touchdown passes. The freshman tight end needs one more touchdown to tie Terrence Edwards’ record for most receiving touchdowns in a single season.

Tech had no answers against UGA’s top ranked defense as they could only muster up 166 total yards. Georgia’s defense has now held all of its opponents this season to 17 points or less.

The Dawgs have now won four straight in the rivalry series and 10 of the last 12. Next up for Georgia is the SEC Championship Game against Alabama.

Georgia has lost its last six against Alabama, including two in the SEC championship game and the national championship game in 2018.

If Georgia wins the SEC title, they are guaranteed the No. 1 spot in the College Football Playoff. If it loses to Alabama, it’s still widely expected that the Dawgs will earn one of the four semifinal spots.
