Top schools with high school football recruits in Georgia

If you’re around any of these schools this fall, don’t be surprised if you see Mark Richt or Paul Johnson or any number of ACC and SEC coaches on campus.

These are 12 Georgia schools where college prospects abound this season:

*Buford – The defending Class AAA champion Wolves have at least eight seniors and several more underclassmen with reported FBS (formerly Division I-A) offers. The blue-chipper is linebacker Korie Rogers, the AAA defensive player of the year in 2012 who has committed to Clemson. TB/DB Thomas Wilson has more than 20 offers, including one from Georgia Tech. His brother, WR/DB Terrance Wilson, has four offers from mid-major programs. Three Big Ten programs have offered RB/DB Zavior Hoxie, likely the team's leading rusher this season. Buford frequently used two quarterbacks last season, and Montgomery VanGorder (Murray State, Eastern Kentucky) and Taylor Mitchell (Austin Peay, Penn, Holy Cross) each have offers. Then there is receiver Tre Neal, who has more than 10 offers, including one from West Virginia. OT Harrison Morgan has an offer from Georgia State. Juniors with offers from SEC teams are RB Joshua Thomas, LB Austin Smith (Vanderbilt), LS Blake Ferguson (LSU), and DT Quay Picou (Ole Miss).Sophomore TE/DE Isaac Nauta has offers from Georgia, Michigan, Florida, FSU and several others. Sophomore DT Benjamin "Shrug" Frazier also has SEC offers.

*Carrollton – This Class AAAA team has five players who are committed in DT Dontavius Russell (Georgia), PK Tyler Newsome (Notre Dame), OL Jake Sanders (Duke), TE Cole Cook (N.C. State) and TE Brandon Walton (Appalachian State).

*Hillgrove - The Hawks have six players with FBS offers. Defensive end Bradley Chubb is committed to N.C. State. Georgia Tech is one of 12 schools that have offered WR Emanuel Beal. Others with FBS offers are DB LeMarkus Bailey, DT Jaylan Reid, RB Richarde Bagley and WR Omar Black.

*Lassiter - DB Chris Murphy has committed to Arkansas. WR Quincy Perdue is pledged to Troy. QB Will Anderson, a 2,000-yard passer last season at Wesleyan, has in-state offers from Mercer and Georgia State along with those from Holy Cross and Jacksonville State. WR Duby Nwaubi has two mid-major offers.

*Lowndes - LB Tre Jackson is committed to Georgia Tech, and offensive lineman Dyshon Sims is headed to Georgia. Both are preseason all-state. Defensive end Zack Copeland and defensive back Brandon Roberts have mid-major offers. Junior LB Brian Bell has an offer from Cincinnati.

*M.L. King – CB Wesley Green leads a group of at least six seniors that figure to sign with FBS programs. Green has committed to South Carolina (as has junior DE Arden Key). Defensive back Chaka Diarrassouba (Western Kentucky) and Alanmichael Harkness (Appalachian State) also are committed. WR Romello Shumake and OL/DL Keyshawn Parrish have mid-major offers. QB Roland Rivers has FCS offers. Junior OL Kwan Stallworth has an offer from Missouri.

*Norcross – Expect 10 or more Blue Devils to sign with FBS schools, led by Lorenzo Carter, the No. 1-rated defensive end in the country by Rivals. LB Kevin Mouhon has committed to Tennessee. TE Chris Herndon has committed to Miami. WR Myles Autry lists Georgia and Georgia Tech among his 20-plus offers. RB Josh Boyd has offers from Air Force and Buffalo. Others with reported offers are FS Jordan Noil (Maryland and Kansas State among eight offers), LB B.J. Credell (Missouri among three), OT Horatio Walker (San Diego State among three), QB A.J. Bush (Kansas State among three) and wide receivers LaMarcus Hardnett and Maaseiah Francis (each with mid-major offers).

*North GwinnettDante Sawyer is one of the top 10 defensive end prospects in the country, and WR Nate Brown has a dozen top offers, including one from Georgia Tech. UCLA and Vanderbilt have recruited RB C.J. Leggett, andWR Caleb Scott has mid-major offers. Mitch Hyatt, a junior, could be Georgia's top offensive line prospect for 2015. Junior LB Anree Saint-Amour has an offer from Missouri.

*Peachtree Ridge – Three have committed to SEC or ACC schools in DB Nick Glass (Georgia), OL Orlando Brown (Tennessee) and RB Jordan Ellis (Virginia). RB Myron Burton has offers from Tennessee and Vanderbilt. DB Dru Moody has three smaller offers.

*Sandy CreekDemarre Kitt could be the state's best receiver. He has committed to Clemson. DT Chris Williams plans to attend Ole Miss. Marshall has dibs on QB Cole Garvin. DB Khari Lain has committed to Arkansas State. Georgia and several others have offered junior RB Eric Swinney.

*Stephenson - The Jaguars are perennially Georgia's hotbed of college signees. They're off and running with nine FBS commitments, including offensive linemen Tyler Jones and Jordan Harris, who are headed to Mississippi State, and juniors Dexter Neal (WR) and Chauncey Rivers (DE), who are committed to South Carolina. The others are DB Jared Tucker (Kentucky), DB Ronald Peterkin and TE Ari Werts (both Georgia State), DB Cameron Glenn (Wake Forest) and RB Dallas Rivers (Vanderbilt). TE Montez Sweat has 20-plus offers, including those from Georgia Tech and Florida. Linebackers Delinine Warren (North Carolina and others) and Malike Ricks also have offers. And among underclassmen, DT Javon Barnes, WR Isaiah Zuber and sophomore DB Khalil Ladler have multiple major D-1 offers.

*Tucker – The Tigers potentially have six FBS signees on defense. LB Detric Dukes is committed to Georgia, and DE Elisa Shaw has a Georgia offer among 12 he's considering. DB Kirk Tucker has more than 20 offers, with Ohio State and Stanford among his leaders. RB/DB Dominick Sanders is looking at Arkansas and Missouri among others. Syracuse is perhaps the top school after LB Justin Hughes. DB Josephy Proby has an FCS offer. Junior DB Duke Shelley is being recruited by Clemson.

Special mentionArabia Mountain has three FBS-committed players in WR Gregory Phillips (Purdue), DB Nasir Edwards (Air Force) and WR/DB Jonathon Slayton (Georgia State). DT Kayton Samuels has 18 FBS and FCS offers. Five others are being recruited. … Callaway, a AAA school, has three big-timers in DB/WR Terry Godwin (No. 3 2015 prospect in Georgia, according to 247Sports), QB Tez Parks (recruited by Georgia Tech and others) and LB KeShun Freeman (committed to Georgia Tech). … Camden County defensive backs Kalvaraz Bessent and Chris Williams have committed to Alabama, and lineman Trayvon Williams is another almost certain D-I signee. … LB Deshon Cooper (Mississippi State) and OL Terronne Prescod (North Carolina) have committed from Columbia, and junior WR Shadell Bell has three ACC offers. … Hughes has two prize juniors on defense in DE D'Andre Walker (UGA among 20 offers) and Montavious Atkinson (Missouri, Southern Cal) and three seniors with offers, led by 1,000-yard rusher Keion Davis (committed to Marshall). … Lamar County has three players committed to Georgia Tech in Qua Searcy and brothers Lance and Lawrence Austin. … Mays has two junior linemen that figure to sign with SEC schools in OL Dallas Warmack (committed to Alabama) and DL Natrez Patrick (UGA among six SEC offers). … McEachern has two juniors that have offers from both Georgia Tech and Georgia in RB Taj Griffin and OL Chuma Edoga. Senior LB Henry Famurewa (committed to Louisville) and QB Ty Clemons (Kentucky among eight offers) also expect to go D-I. … Monroe Area has four seniors with offers, headed by QB Stanton Truitt (committed to Auburn). The others are WR Michael Gallup, DB Junior Reed and RB Kwan Brooks. … North Cobb has two D-I commits in senior DB/WR Cameron Albright (North Carolina) and sophomore QB Tyler Queen (Auburn). … Thomas County Central has QB Adam Choice (committed to Clemson) and junior LB Austin Bryant (offers from Georgia Tech, Florida State, Clemson). … Boston College has commitments from Westminster's Cameron Seward (RB) and Sam Schmal (OL) and has offered DE Russell Ude. … Wayne County QB Malique Jackson is committed to Florida State, and WR Krenwick Sanders and DL/OL Jeremy Patterson have offers from Florida and others. Wayne also has LB Taylor Heflin (committed to Navy). … Woodward Academy has five D-I prospects, including N.C. State-committed PK A.J. Cole, QB Terry Googer (South Carolina reportedly leads) and junior LB Arrington Farrar (Georgia Tech among a dozen offers).
