ATLANTA, Ga. — Which school has the best band in the state of Georgia?
WSB-TV and wsbtv.com will host a 64-team high school band tournament later this season to determine the answer to that question.
The station will record high school band performances at games each Friday night and those schools will be included in the tournament.
Unfortunately, WSB-TV can't cover every single school in the state. That's where viewers come into play. If you want your school included in the competition, record a performance from the band that's at least a minute in length. Upload it to the iWitness2 section and the band will be included in the competition if it is one of the first 64 videos received.
The winning school will take home the honor of being named the Best High School Band in Georgia and win a great prize. Last year's winner got the chance to play at Turner Field for an Atlanta Braves baseball game. This year's winner will get to do the same.
One note about the tournament, bands will be ranked by the number of views their videos receive during the course of the season. The band with the most views prior to the start of the tournament will be the top-ranked band in the field and will face the 64th-ranked band in the field. The band with the second most video views will be ranked second and face the 63rd-ranked band.
North Cobb High School won the competition in 2009. Parkview won it in 2010.
