ATLANTA — A player making his Major League Baseball debut is the most unforgettable moment in his career. But the debut for Ian Anderson will be extra memorable Tuesday night.
The Braves called up their top pitching prospect to make his debut against the New York Yankees.
Anderson will start against one of the top hitting lineups in the majors while the Yankees will start their ace Gerrit Cole. Talk about pressure.
Anderson is ranked as the Braves No. 3 prospect behind Cristian Pache and Drew Waters, according to MLB.com. Pache made his MLB debut last week.
The Braves drafted Anderson with the third overall pick in 2016. He has spent most of his career with Mississippi Braves in Double A but pitched five games in Gwinnett last season.
Some other roster news for the Braves: star outfielder Ronald Acuna has been taken off the injured list. Acuna had been battling a sore wrist and missed games since Aug. 10.
