ATLANTA — Every football fan thinks they can call better plays than the head coach of their favorite team. Now, they get the chance to prove it.
It’s called Fan Controlled Football. This league was set to debut in Las Vegas this year. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic they had to change locations.
So the FCF decided to make Georgia home for their first season.
Channel 2 sports anchor Alison Mastrangelo visited training camp to learn about the league where fans get to make game time decisions.
It’s professional football with a twist.
“It’s basically E-sports and traditional sports colliding together,” said Ray Austin, FCF Commissioner and co-founder.

Fan Controlled Football is set to debut in February. It consists of four teams competing in a fast pace 7-v-7 game during a six-week season that will be streamed live on Twitch.
“We’re going to be running out there flying around and I love the aspect where we don’t know what’s going to be called. We have a rough game plan but we have no idea what the fans are going to call,” quarterback Jackson Erdmann said.

This league is all about getting the fans at home involved in real game time decisions
“This is something fans have been dreaming of how many times have you been frustrated throwing something at the TV saying I would have done that differently, well now you have the opportunity and power to do that,” said nose tackle Donte Rumph.
During the week fans will get to work alongside celebrity team owners like Quavo and Richard Sherman to select their roster. Then on game days, the fans will get to pick the offensive plays.
“You’ll get a chance to pick from four plays, and have 10 seconds to pick. Once you pick your play all the fans around the world will pick their play. The play that has the most votes will be sent down to the coach ,” Austin said.
And for the players like Rumph, FCF is giving him the chance to continue to play the sport he loves while also still chasing his ultimate goal of playing in the NFL.
“It’s an opportunity of a lifetime. It’s giving us the opportunity to hopefully get back to that level, and playing right now is giving us the best opportunity to make that dream come true,” he said.
The six week season will start February 13 at the Infinite Energy Arena. It will consist of four regular season weeks, one playoff week, and a championship week. More information can be found here.
