ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Transportation is suspending lane closures ahead of the holiday weekend.
The suspension of the lane closures will be on Georgia interstates and state routes beginning Friday, July 1 at 12 p.m. until 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 5.

GDOT said this will allow for anticipated holiday weekend traffic.
GDOT reminds travelers to still be cautious as crews may still be working near highways.

GDOT’s 5-day travel forecast for the holiday weekend indicates the heaviest traffic may start as early as Friday, July 1, with moderately heavy traffic predicted on both Saturday, July 2 and Tuesday, July 5.
