ATLANTA — Dangerous cold arrived in north Georgia Friday morning with strong winds. The arctic blast led to temperatures falling rapidly across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.
Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz says lows tonight will reach single digits. That’s the coldest weather in nearly a decade.

A wind chill advisory is in effect for south parts of metro Atlanta. A wind chill warning is in effect for north Georgia and northwest metro Atlanta.
Wind gusts range from 20-40 mph and they could get up to 50 mph. Some areas may not get above freezing until mid-day Monday.

Gov. Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency for Georgia on Wednesday for the extreme cold.
