Excessive heat warning for north Georgia; scattered storms possible tonight

Monday is shaping up to be one of the hottest days of the year in metro Atlanta. The area is under an excessive heat warning until 8 p.m. on Monday night.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan says the temperature will feel like 100°-111° on Monday.

Temperatures will be in the low to mid-90s in the afternoon. Monahan says there is also a possibility of isolated storms on Monday.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for Randolph County, Alabama in the Channel 2 viewing area until 6 p.m. central.

  • North Georgia is under a level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather
  • Heavy rain and damaging wind gusts are the main threats
  • Scattered storms overnight
  • A colder front is expected to move in tomorrow, which will lower the humidity in the area a bit.
