ATLANTA — After last night’s heavy rains that left flooding and damage across parts of the metro, Severe Weather Team 2 says we could be in for even more heavy rain before the metro dries out.
“As we head into the afternoon, right on into the evening, another round of rain and storm will be moving in,” said Severe Weather Team 2′s Eboni Deon.

Deon said through the overnight hours, a frontal boundary will move in and push the rainy weather out of the area.

“Behind that will be much drier air. Clouds will linger early in the day (Thursday) and will eventually clear out,” Deon said.

Isolated storms will develop with the heat of the day and become more widespread.
Slightly cooler temps are expected Friday and into the weekend.

Channel 2 Action News viewers in Cobb County sent photos and videos of flooding near the Marietta Square and areas of Delk Road.
A Channel 2 photographer also watched as Cobb County fire and rescue crews helped people who were stranded in their cars off Franklin Gateway.
Severe Weather Team 2 says the radar estimated a 24-hour rain total of more than 6 inches just east of I-75 in Cobb County.
Areas near Dobbins Air Reserve Base reported 3.6 inches.
