Grab an umbrella! Rain moving in tonight and staying through the weekend

ATLANTA — It’s gonna be a wet weekend in metro Atlanta and north Georgia and rain chances start increasing on Friday night.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Jennifer Lopez says Friday will be a dreary, cool day with highs in the upper 40s and a few light showers.

But rain chances will increase Friday evening and the first round of rain will move in late Friday night.

The showers will stick around into the weekend with scattered showers throughout Saturday.

Overnight Saturday into Sunday morning, Lopez says isolated strong storms are possible with most of the area being under a Level 1 threat.

On Sunday, early morning thunderstorms are possible and the rain will taper off by the afternoon.
