Heavy rain, strong wind gusts continues to move through north Georgia after night of severe weather

ATLANTA — Heavy rain will stick around through the early hours Friday morning.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan is tracking the downpours and some strong wind gusts for the morning commute.

On Thursday night, there was a risk for an isolated severe storm for parts of north Georgia and metro Atlanta. The severe weather threat will slowly diminish throughout the morning.

Here’s what to know about severe weather Friday:

  • Heavy rain through the morning with much colder air this weekend
  • Cold front will bring heavy rain through at least the first half of the morning commute
  • Inch or more of rain is possible in parts of the area
  • Standing water on roads likely for morning commute
