Severe storms moving out of north Georgia overnight

ATLANTA — Severe storms are moving through the metro Atlanta area Thursday.

Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns says there is a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather this evening in parts of North Georgia, with the biggest threat to the south and west of metro Atlanta.

Main threats are heavy rain, damaging wind gusts and frequent lightning.

Channel 2′s Elizabeth Rawlins is at a home where a tree fell down n Chamblee. The tree fell near the homeowner’s car. Witnesses told Rawlins that a woman was taken to the hospital but was alert.
