ATLANTA — Get ready for a stormy couple of days across North Georgia.

The first round of storms is expected to hit late Tuesday morning and into the afternoon.

Currently, most of the North Georgia Mountains are under a Level 1 threat for severe weather.

Metro Atlanta is currently under a Level 2 risk and areas South of I-20 are under a Level 3 risk.

The biggest impacts expected for the severe weather Tuesday are heavy rain, large hail and damaging winds.

“Late in the day, we could see supercell thunderstorms -- rotating thunderstorms that could produce long-track tornadoes,” said Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns.

Here is what else to know about Tuesday:

  • Unlike last week’s storms, Tuesday’s storms will come during daylight, evening hours
  • Tuesday will bring widespread rain.
  • Tornado risk is highest near and south of I-20.
  • Large Level 3 severe weather risk covers most of north Georgia Wednesday
