ATLANTA — A line of severe thunderstorms moved through north Georgia and metro Atlanta Thursday night, leaving trees and power lines down and numerous reports of damage.
Most of north Georgia is under a Level 2 risk for severe storms through the evening.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for much of north and central Georgia until 1 a.m.

The National Weather Service says there is a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of North and Central Georgia.
6:57 p.m.
The National Weather Service has extended the severe thunderstorm watch to several more counties in the Channel 2 Action News viewing area including Butts, Clayton, Coweta, Fayette, Greene, Henry, Jasper, Lamar, Morgan, Newton, Pike, Putnam and Spalding counties until 1 a.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Hancock, Butts, Taliaferro, Wilkes, Madison, Newton, Warren, Morgan, Putnam, Henry, Greene, Oglethorpe and Jasper counties until 7:45 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Rockdale, DeKalb, Douglas, Henry, Fulton, Clayton and Newton counties until 7 p.m.

Georgia Power is reporting that more than 80,000 people are without power in metro Atlanta.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for DeKalb, Gwinnett, Clarke, Hall, Jackson, Madison, Newton, Rockdale, Oconee, Barrow, Morgan, Banks, Walton and Oglethorpe counties until 7 p.m.

Sawnee Electric is reporting more than 41,000 people without power in Forsyth, Cherokee, Fulton and Dawson counties.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Paulding, Cherokee, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett, Floyd, Fulton, Polk, Chattooga and Bartow counties until 6:45 p.m.
5:49 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Cherokee, Floyd, Gordon, Chattooga and Bartow counties until 6:30 p.m.
5:44 p.m.
The emergency manager in Cherokee County said a tree has fallen on a house on Bishop Road and there are people trapped inside. There are multiple trees down in the area and multiple roads closed.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Cherokee County until 6:30 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Cherokee, Barrow, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Banks, Dawson, Hall, Jackson and Fulton counties until 6:15 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Catoosa, Floyd, Whitfield, Walker, Dade and Chattooga counties until 6 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Cherokee, Forsyth, Lumpkin, White, Dawson, Hall and Pickens counties until 6 p.m.

Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz said the main threats will be isolated severe storms with damaging wind gusts and large hail.
