Strong storms move out after dumping hail, heavy rain in metro Atlanta

ATLANTA — Metro Atlanta is drying out after a stormy afternoon and evening Saturday.

The severe weather threat has cleared for all of north Georgia.

9:03 p.m.:

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Butts, Gwinnett, Henry, Jasper, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Rockdale, Spalding and Walton County until 9:45 p.m.

8:36 p.m.:

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Clayton, Coweta, DeKalb, Fayette, Gwinnett, Henry, Newton, Rockdale, Spalding and Walton County until 9:15 p.m.

8:20 p.m.:

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Coweta, Fayette, Heard, Meriwether and Troup County until 9 p.m.

7:25 p.m.:

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Carroll, Haralson, and Paulding County until 8:15pm.

7:16 p.m.:

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for large hail in Polk and northern Haralson county until 8 p.m.

6:50 p.m.:

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Cherokee, Forsyth, and Fulton County until 7:30 p.m.

6:49 p.m.:

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Chattooga and Floyd County until 7:15 p.m.

6:40 p.m.:

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the south metro has been canceled as that storm has weakened. Metro Atlanta remains under a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m.

6:28 p.m.:

The Atlanta Braves game has been postponed due to the inclement weather. The game has been rescheduled as a doubleheader beginning at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, with the second game following.

6:10 p.m.:

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Clayton, Coweta, Fayette, Meriwether, Spalding and Troup County until 7 p.m.

5:51 p.m.:

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for much of metro Atlanta until 10 p.m.

5:33 p.m.:

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Meriwether and Troup County until 6:15 p.m.

5:11 p.m.:

A storm with strong wind gusts, lighting and heavy rain is heading to northeast metro area around 55 mph.

There is hail in the storm near Forest Park and a severe thunderstorm warning has been issued. It is moving NE at 55 mph with strong wind gusts, lighting and heavy rain.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Clayton, DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale and Walton County until 6 p.m.

Damage in metro Atlanta

Crews were working to restore power in several areas of metro Atlanta after trees fell on power lines Saturday morning. Numerous crashes were reported on Atlanta highways on wet roads.

One tree fell on a mobile home in Lawrenceville, crushing both the home and a car. Luckily, no one was hurt.
