Damage reported after at least 1 tornado moves through central Georgia

ATLANTA — Strong storms moved through parts of north Georgia Friday, spawning at least one tornado.

Several tornado warnings were issued on Friday afternoon and at least one tornado touched down in Monroe County, overturning a mobile home and leaving several people with minor injuries.

4:08 p.m.

A viewer sent us a photo of a home on its side in Monroe County, just south of the Channel 2 Action News viewing area.

A woman was rescued from the home. At least two other people had minor injuries.

3:37 p.m.

A new tornado warning has been issued for Putnam and Green counties until 4:15 p.m.

3:33 p.m.

A tornado watch has been issued for Greene and Putnam counties until 8 p.m.

3:06 p.m.

Tornado warning issued for Greene, Taliaferro counties until 3:30 p.m.

3 p.m.

A tornado warning has been issued for Jasper and Putnam counties until 3:45 p.m.

2:54 p.m.

The street car in downtown Atlanta has been suspended due to flooding.

2:11 p.m.

A tornado warning has been issued for Monroe, Crawford and Taylor counties until 2:30 p.m. A warning in Upson County has been canceled.

1:17 p.m.

Heavy rain is continuing across much of metro Atlanta. Strong wind gusts are still possible.

11:40 a.m.

A tornado warning has been issued for Meriwether, Troup and Harris counties until 12 p.m.

11:35 a.m.

The Northside exit on I-75 south is underwater, according to Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns.
