Warmer temps, rain this week before another arctic blast moves in Sunday

ATLANTA — Get ready for a weather rollercoaster this weekend. Severe Weather Team 2 is tracking a brief warm-up and heavy rain before another arctic blast moves in.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan says we’ll thaw out with temperatures climbing into the mid 50s on Thursday and Friday.

But starting Saturday, the wet weather returns and heavy rain will be possible in some areas during the morning. Up to an inch of rain is possible.

Monahan says another arctic blast moves into north Georgia on Sunday and brings with it the coldest air of the season so far.

  • Long duration freeze possible next week with 72+ hours near or below freezing (Sunday evening through early Thursday morning)
