ATLANTA — A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for several North Georgia counties ahead of wintry mix that is expected to impact the state this weekend.
The watch has been issued for: Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Hall, Banks, Jackson and Madison counties.

The watch takes effect Saturday evening and lasts through Sunday night.
Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said a winter mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain are all possible this weekend.
Burns said there could be a significant winter mix accumulation of snow and freezing rain from northeast metro Atlanta up to the mountains.
In metro Atlanta and the immediate suburbs, there is the potential for accumulating snow and ice, as well as rain at various times.
